Cocktail was created at the Russian Tea Room, New York and can be found in the book “Russian Dishes and What They Are Made Of”. The published recipe for the Gypsy (a.k.a: Vodka Queen) first hit shelves in the mid-1930s in USA (so it’s from the prohibition time).
It’s a lovely example of what vodka can do in delivering other flavors, it elevates the Benedictine with it’s herbal taste and it’s a very non-vodka-like cocktail.
Really good but strong cocktail for Vodka lovers.
